Foundation for the promotion of education and culture “Source of Hope” celebrated November 25th, Statehood Day of Bosnia Herzegovina, with a formal program and a lecture.
The lecture on the topic of “Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina – a look into the future” was held by the guest lecturer Prof. Dr. Mirsad Hadžikadić, a Bosnian-Herzegovinian and American university professor, computer science PhD and director of the Complex Systems Institute in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as the founder and president of the movement “Platform for Progress”.
Hadžikadić thanked the audience for their visit and intention to celebrate the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a formal program. Moreover, he congratulated the management of the Foundation on the results the Foundation had achieved in the previous period.
Speaking on the topic of “Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina – a look into the future”, Dr. Hadžikadić said how “we should consider the state as our own” and that we should protect it as something personal, in the manner we protect ourselves or our family.
“When we go to our homes, we all need to take a look in the mirror and ask: ‘What did we do for our community?’; through that answer, we will get information about what we are doing and how much we are contributing to the well-being of our community, society and state. On this day, I urge you to decide whether you are going to be a part of the reforms because we need to win in this fight against ourselves. When I ask you whose state this is, your answer should be ‘mine’”, said Hadžikadić.
He asserted that it is necessary to create reforms and that they will have to happen, with the compromise of all parties in our country.
When asked to comment on the mixture of politics and morality, Hadžikadić stated that he is an idealist by nature and that he believes morality and politics can coexist together.
“Compromise is the reality of life. I do not think that compromise is immoral. I think that the non-representation of every citizen of this state is immoral, that taking money from public companies is immoral, and similar. I function best when there is chaos, when there is a need to find an adequate path towards a solution. Morality will come from the principles. Compromise can not be at the expense of the state”, highlighted Hadžikadić during the lecture.
At the end of the lecture, Tarik Agetović, director of the Foundation “Source of Hope”, presented Hadžikadić with a gift, a handicraft by the scholars of the Foundation as a sign of gratitude for the delivered lecture, and congratulated November 25th, Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the gathered audience.
