Imran Polovina, a scholar of the Foundation “Source of Hope” and a student of Faculty of Criminal Science in Sarajevo, was on a two-day visit to NATO headquarters and European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels, during the month of November.
The organizer of the visit was the Center for Security Studies which, with the support of the NATO Department for Public Diplomacy, organized the visit of a group of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina which comprised students, journalists and representatives of the NGO sector.
During the visit to NATO headquarters, the participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with general information about the NATO Alliance, topics which concern the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the NATO Alliance, current security challenges of NATO, as well as the NATO program “Science for Peace and Security”. At the end of the visit, a panel discussion was organized involving the representatives of permanent missions to NATO from the Netherlands (as a founding member of the Alliance), Hungary (as an ally whose embassy in Sarajevo has the role of NATO contact embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Montenegro (as the newest member of the NATO alliance), as reported by the CSS.
The main topic of conversation with the representatives of the Departement for Western Balkans EEAS was the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special regard to key challenges for the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union, as well as the current security challenges.
