The Foundation for the Advancement of Education and Culture “Source of Hope” was last night on the premises of the Student Hall “Prof. Dr. Firket Hadžić “hosted a lecture by Namik Hrlet, a world-renowned IT professional working for the US company IBM.
Hrle spoke on the subject of “What code activates your resources?” And the audience enjoyed the two-hour lecture by this expert.
“I love change; it can be seen in my life course. My family always travels with me and they are my support in life and work. I believe it is important for both life and career to work for change. It’s hard to get out of the comfort zone, but it’s important to be part of the change”, he said in an discussion with the audience.
“Things have changed radically for the last 10-15 years. Just look at some of the biggest companies. In 2000, more than half of them were missing from 500 companies worldwide. Bankrupt, disbanded, merged with some other companies and the like. These are tectonic changes, “Hrle pointed out,” there is a lot of space for small businesses, especially because of the availability of information through the Internet. Everything is more or less known. It is important to redefine the problem and collect relevant business information in an innovative way. A significant number of new businesses are based on data collection and analysis. It is important to connect people working in other industries with those working in the IT industry, to map processes and understand how the entire process is going, and to develop and create a platform for the above”, Hrle told attendees.
Hrle, is a residents of Banja Luke but lives and works in Germany today. He has the title of “IBM Fellow”, which marks the highest level in IBM’s technical career. It is the title the corporation bestows on its most inventive experts, and so far, only 268 individuals have received such a title, a relatively small number given the nearly 400,000 IBM employees.
He attended Kasim Hadžić Elementary School, and was in the first generation of the so-called mathematic gymnasium in Banja Luka. He continued his education in Zagreb, where he completed his mathematics and postgraduate studies in computer science.
He designed and developed the IBM Database Performance Monitor (DB2). In the mid-1990s he went to live and work in Germany, first as a freelance software consultant in the field of SAP applications, and then as an IBM software product development engineer. He is currently leading the technical team of IBM’s R&D lab.
During the two-hour lecture, the audience had the opportunity to hear the answers to the questions “Why not be afraid of change?”, “What are the qualities of successful people?”
“Thank you to all of those who have given their time to the Source of Hope Foundation and have recognized it as a Foundation that seeks to bring together lecturers who, with their knowledge and life experience, can help young people in our country. The presence of a large number of young people, especially in the IT field, as well as the numerous messages we received because of the organization of this lecture, best speaks in support of the above. Thank you to our guest who took the time and shared with the youth very significant life experiences. We believe that the audience will share their knowledge with friends and those who have not had the opportunity to attend the lecture”, said Tarik Agetović, director of the Source of Hope Foundation.
At the end of the lecture, Agetović presented Hrlet with a gift, handmade with Sarajevo motifs prepared by the members of the Creative team of the Source of Hope Foundation.
